GlobalProtect VPN Client

It has become necessary to change the VPN client that schools use to connect their school administrative computers to the BATHNES network. Currently schools are using the Nortel VPN client but the council have introduced a new firewall which requires the use of a different client – GlobalProtect.

Over the next few weeks Schools ICT will be implementing this new client to all schools that access BATHNES resources directly, i.e. email and reconciliation files. You will be contacted individually with a date of the implementation for your school. We will be migrating schools in blocks of no more than 10 schools at a time.

On the day of the migration any shortcuts (icons) for the exsiting Nortel VPN client will be removed and in its place will be the GlobalProtect shortcut.

Please download and read through the documentation for the GlobalProtect VPN client so that you become more familiar with it as it does operate differently than the Nortel client. Please circulate this to anyone in the school that uses the current VPN client. This will most likely be people who have their own email address or if they access the school mailbox.
